A friend in need

Soon realizing that he had no clue where he was brought to, Greenleaf searched around to spot anything that might look similar in his previous strolls in the Everfree forest. Alas, it was getting dark and his stomach wasn't helping by distracting his thoughts with loud grumbles.

"Hold on a second, I'm a griffon- I have wings! I'm sure If I can get some altitude, I should be able to spot Ponyville... now if only I can get these things flapping"

Lucky for our hero, his special-somepony was a Pegasus and she shared a lot of information to satisfy his curiosity on how wings work.

'Now, if I remember correctly, it's all synchronization in the nerves. Elbows loose, shoulders high, torso tense... then pull nerves in, push nerves out. Pull nerves in, push nerves out.'

After many attempts,the griffon was finally airborne. He still needed to practice balancing his wing-flapping to keep himself in one spot, but this was only to get enough height above the trees to see his whereabouts. After he could spot the lights from the town hall in Ponyville, he dropped back to the ground and headed straight into that direction.

Greenleaf eventually came to his cottage and sprinted to his cellar to satisfy his hunger. After gluttoning in his food storage, it dawned on him that the berries, salad-leaves and the hay stacks weren't quite as appetizing as before he changed shape. It took all of his fruits reserve to feel at least slightly satisfied.

"I guess until I find a spell to turn me back, my hard earned bits are going to be used for a bigger supply of fruits and vegetables... wait- work! I'm supposed to be at the Hayseed Shack tonight! How am I going explain this?!"

-and as if it was planned, a knock came from outside door.

"Hey Razorbass, It's Aequiva! You're going to be late for tonight's show. Don't tell me you slept-in again?"

His hunger came back as he gulped deeply and panicked but he dashed upstairs and held the door closed tight before he could even feel it.

With a subtle cough, Greenleaf changed his voice to play the sick victim.

"I-*ahem* I won't be able to make it tonight. I-err... caught a whiff of poison joke and my hooves are all sticky and my voice is fuzzed. I wanted to send a note, but I didn't want to contaminate you too"

"Ohn, sorry to hear about that, Bass! Hope you feel better so-"

Silence soon followed, making Greenleaf worry more every second about what might be happening on the other side of the door. After looking around, he noticed his tail was waving in front of the window. He quickly jerked it away, hoping that wasn't the reason of the sudden pause...

"What was that, Bass? You got a 'special friend' in there with you?"

Knowing Aequiva, his lifelong classmate, he was a very persistent and shared an even bigger curiosity than him.

Before Greenleaf could attempt to reply, Aequiva used his magic to open the window and float inside to see what was all the fuss. The green Griffon used his reflexes to pull down the drapes on the side of the window to cover him before.

"Be careful Aquiva! I told you I'm contaminated! you be best to leave if you don't want to turn into something as horrid as-"

Having his drapes literally ripped off of his grasp, he was laying on the ground, crumbled into a little ball. Speechless, the shocked unicorn decided to break the silence first:

"Razor... bass?! I-Is that... did that poison joke... what happened.. how did this.. you're a-a... Griffon?!"

'at least he finished ONE of his sentences'

Funny sidenote - 'Aquiva' is an O.C. pony one of my furry friends made on a ponymaker that I showed to him. Although he's not claiming to be a 'Brony', he definately loves the .mov series... I give him another month before he can confess and wear the fluttershy 'yay' t-shrit I bought him!

another note, the lines look a little darker, even after attempting to 'whiten' the scan, I think it's the fact that while I was sketching and inking, it was very humid and it must have accented the ink color.
